It is a mythological though we can’t deny the fact as said in the Holy Scriptures that Ganges was almost too keen and devastating in its flow thus Lord Shiva had to bind it in his locks thus giving it a way on to the earth. And the rapid flow of Bhagirathi can be viewed from its source Gaumukh. Well, Bhagirathi when passes through the lower parts of the Devprayag in Himalayas named as Ganges after merged of two other rivers Alaknanda and Mandakini in it. During your Gangotri yatra you can stay in many beautiful summer resorts and hotels mostly named as Gangotri hotels.
