Kaziranga National Park is one of the primmest national parks in the world and also known as the pride of the North East India. Located in the extreme geographical location, the park offers a gigantic range of flora and fauna. You must be already aware about the rich abundance of the rihnos in Kaziranga National park, which is why Kaziranga National park has been rated as the finest parks in the world. Talking in detail, Kaziranga National park is located in the Golaghat and Nagaon districts of the state of Assam, India. Kaziranga National park is one of the best locations to view wildlife giants such as elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer.
An UNESCO World Heritage Site,Kaziranga National Park covers an area of approximately 430-sq-kms with its swamps and tall thickets of elephant grass making it the ideal habitat for the Indian One-Horned Rhino. Due to limitless poaching of this prehistoric survivor, the Kaziranga National Park was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1940. The landscape of Kaziranga is of sheer forest, tall elephant grass, rugged reeds, marshes shallow pools. In the heart of Assam, this park is one of the last areas in eastern India undisturbed by a human presence.
Beside of course the great one horned Indian Rhino, the other major wildlife attractions include a large population of Indian Elephants, Indian Bison, Swamp Deer or Barasingha, Hog Deer, Sloth Bears, Tigers, Leopard Cats, Jungle Cats, Otters, Hog Badgers, Capped Langurs, Hoolock Gibbons, Wild Boar, Jackal, Wild Buffalo, Pythons, Monitor Lizards, etc. Kaziranga National Park is a birding paradise; the grasslands are a raptor country that can be seen on safari makes a remarkable experience. These include the Oriental Honey Buzzard, Black-Shouldered Kite, Black Kite, Brahminy Kite, Pallas's Fishing Eagle, White Tailed Eagle, Grey-Headed Fishing Eagle, Himalayan Griffon, etc. Huge numbers of migratory birds descend on the parks lakes and marshy areas during winters, including Greylag Geese, Bar-Headed Geese, Ruddy Shelduck, Gadwall, Falcated Duck, Red-Crested Pochard and Northern Shoveller.
Also, watch out for a gigantic stretch of tall elephant grass, marshland, and dense tropical moist broadleaf forests, which have been showered by the beauty of Brahmaputra and other four rivers.
